Road Trip to San Antonio!

Ok. Well. Here we go!

So I have a tournament in San Antonio this weekend. It's like 3 hours from here to there. So...naturally...my Dad and I listened to my music the whole way, which consisted of Superchick {I am going to their concert (hopefully) in March!!!!}, Barlowgirl, and Phantom of the Opera. Yes, it was fun TRYING to sing the music, and funnier to hear what "notes" we came up with. So what I'm not an opera singer? No big deal. I can carry a normal tune as long as it doesn't contain notes that are not physically impossible to hit or undiscovered by mankind. So as we were driving down dark roads in the middle of the night, listening to the loud Phantom of the Opera theme song, I glanced out of the window, and I was left speechless. I COULD SEE STARS! And I don't mean those wimpy city lights. I mean...like...breathtaking, stunning, incredible beyond belief stars! God is AWESOME! We got to the hotel at like 8. The beds are really poofy and comfy!

Back to volleyball...Today we played 3 games. We had to get there pretty early. I wasn't too happy with that. And then we had to watch a game before it was our turn. Then we played a good team and lost by 2 points. The next team we played won by a few more points. Then we had another break. The third game I messed up really badly when I went in. My serve hit the net because I rushed it, my bump wasn't straight, and then I had another one that I could have hit better than I did, but I accidently hit the ceiling. Arg. I was really dissappointed in myself. We won that game nonetheless.

After showering at the hotel and eating lunch my dad and I met up with some friends and we went to the riverwalk. THAT WAS AWESOME! I need to go back there sometime with Mickey and Charity. Will and ... Mickey's bro {does he have a nickame...?} can come too. We would have SO much fun! It's soooooooooooo cooooooooool! I bought a hat, which leaves me with $4 for this month. Again, I am not broke, but sadly I have no willpower to save or invest. Anyway, we went to a few restaurants, listened to some people singing, went to a Mexican marketplace, and walked around the riverway. It was really fun.

I don't know what time we are playing tomorrow or when we are playing. I think that we will go to church here in the morning. If we loose a lot of games I think we may be done sooner and might be able to make it back to Houston in time for night church. Otherwise you'll have to wait another week. Sorry guys. Well, that's just a quick update {or as quick as I could make it}. Now I've got to go study for IPC {which I was supposed to be doing}, so Ciao.

Random...well maybe not so random...IPC fact

Ok, so, since Will has decided to do that biology thing or whatever, I might as well do my own little weekly IPC fact...it kind of helps that I have my book open in front of me because I am cramming--I mean studying...for my test on Tues. {As a side not, IPC is Integrated Physics and Chemistry} Yeah, it's kind of tough for 8th grade, but we take it with the 10 graders so it makes it...bearable...

Fact:

When they say not to mix cleaning solutions with other cleaning solutions, they were NOT kidding. If the right chemicals are mixed, it could release a deadly gas.

Fact:

A polar molecule is a dipole, but a dipole is not a polar molecule...Oooh. Scary, isn't it?

Term:

Dissociation:

Chemical definition: the process whereby the ions in an ionic substance are separated one from another.

Most commonly used definition: I don't know you! *Walking away.* {You are dissociating yourself from the "stranger", and dissociating here means to sever the association of (oneself) from another's company...}

And I texted my friend this the other day, and it's kind of funny, and also serves as a good conclusion to this blog post:

My mind is a book,
My mind is a song,
I'm going to stop
Cuz this post is too long!

Ok! Here's the poem!

Ok! Here's the poem that I had been trying to find that was recent...well, it's not so recent anymore, but I think it's alright. So...here we go:

Glass Tear

A teardrop falls to earth,
But her sorrow is brief.
Her shadow is the only one
To see her in her grief.

Her teardrop turns to glass;
Shatters before her eyes.
So she begins to run,
And through her flight she cries.

All at once she falls
Or floats; it’s all the same.
She’s forgotten who she is.
It was lost in the flame.

All that she thought she was
Has somehow burned away.
Her eyes are lifeless now.
Not even purpose stays.

She runs with tear-filled eyes
Down paths not meant for her.
She thought she knew her place,
But now she’s not so sure.

This dark has consumed her
And choked out all her light.
There’s nothing left inside her –
No will, no spark, no fight.

Now she catches her tear
Before it hits the ground.
She looks into its depths,
And there a light is found.

Suddenly warm arms
Close around her all.
Now wrapped in his huge form,
Her own seems very small.

She looked into His face,
And gazed into his eyes.
There she saw her pain,
Her life, her tears, her cries.

He whispered in her ear,
“That is a heavy tear.
Even though it’s full of light,
It’s not for you to bear.

“Give it to me, child.
It is too much for you.
For in its depths, you will find
All that you’ve been through.”

She opened up her palm
And gave him her small light.
He blew on it and made
The whole world seem just right.

The whole place lit up,
Though the sun was not there.
In his hands, the tear
Gave light that filled the air.

“Do you see?” he asked,
“It was dark and so you ran,
But for all your suffering,
I have had a plan.

“I bear the dark you bore;
I free you from its chain.
Now that your trial is done,
You have much to gain.

“Your darkness is now light,
As your pain now is joy.
Now I give you your light,
For others to enjoy.”

He bent and blew the light;
It flew about the place.
It stuck to her hair
And her clothes and her face.

She laughed as she glowed,
And He laughed along.
His laugh was a rainbow,
A book, and a song.

So she bore her light
For others to see
That He removes chains
So you can be free.

Yeah, I had a little trouble with the rhyme scheme, so I am open to suggestions and better verses and things that might make it flow better...so...that's it...bye!

Second Attempt

A baby was born,
Who was to be king,
But was born in a barn,
A most unseemly thing.

The child was small,
With such perfect form,
That none would suspect
Of the upcoming storm.

From the moment he breathed,
To the moment he laughed,
His days were numbered
To when he'd breath his last.

The reason he lived
Was that he had to die,
To save us all
And he complied.

God had a plan
For his only child,
So as he watched him grow,
I think that he smiled.

But then it happened,
That cold, dark day,
His son gave his life
And thus gave us the way.

Now we can join God,
In heaven above,
And thank him for sending
His child of love.

Ok, so I guess it could be better, but I am getting hungry and I can't think of anything else. Sorry. Merry Christmas!!!! ...Eve...

Merry Christmas

Ok, I thought of this quickly and it's clearly not good. It doesn't have a good rhytm and the rhyming is questionable, but for a last-minute poem I think it's alright...

May your Christmas be joyful,
And full of good cheer,
Your Eve be wonderful
And so your new year.

When the presents are opened
And the chocolates passed round,
Remember the past year,
And friends that you've found.

Remember your family,
The close and the far,
And send them your wishes
Then wish on a star.

Then think of the people,
Asleep on their beds.
And also the people
In the cold, without threads.

The homeless, the hungry,
The angry, the sad,
Remember the reason
Why Christmas is had.

Remember the child
That you saw on the street
Who goes to sleep hungry
And dreams food to eat.

Remember the man
Who's life is all wrong,
And give him some bread
Or some hope, in a song.

Remember the woman,
Hair dirty and curled,
Who gave birth to a child
To save the world.

Remember her boy,
Who died on the cross.
And the world was saved,
At his Father's loss.

Why did he come down
From heaven above?
To show us all
His father's love.

It's Christmas time again.
So be of good cheer,
But don't forget those
Who watch it disappear.

I know, I know, I could do better. I think I had a good one somewhere...I will try to find it...

Oh, ~ Captain Bonnie Spinner.
